With just over a week to go before Open studios commences here in Cornwall its time to prepare the studio spaces. To be honest everything is a bit messy at the moment but I have a some time to make the transformations necessary to put on a show for the full nine days. With a mixture mainly of photography, acrylics, coloured pencil, graphite and pastel the week should be exciting. Wish me luck!Read More

A big thank you to the Creek artists (https://www.facebook.com/creekartsandcrafts/?fref=ts) who invited me to join them at their Fair at Devoran last Saturday. What a great event with a large footfall and a wide selection of artists including a painter, jewellers, sculptor, ceramists, printmaker and myself the photographer. This will be great practice for open studios at the end of May with quite a few lessons learnt. Its also worth mentioning the great support I received from friends and family. This week I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to photograph two different types of composition. Initially the very talented Tamsin Dearing (www.tamsindearing.co.uk) asked me to photograph her work which is now on display and for sell at the Cornish Vegan Restaurant in Truro. Secondly Dawn from the restaurant asked me to photograph the space itself for use on her social media pages (thecornishvegan.com). If you get the chance to sample the food and drink and enjoy Tamsins art do not hesitate! If there any other business' who would like something similar then drop me a line.Read More

Over the past few months I have been working on a submission to the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) to try and acquire a distinction. Thanks to a few friends from the society in the local area I have been putting together a panel of around 15 images. The first part of the process takes part in April and the final submission later in the year. It's not a simple process and the quality of images required is very high. Lets hope this experience improves my photography and continues to take me out of my photographic comfort zone!Read More

Hot off the press "I am a winner". This month I was lucky enough to be a winner in the Royal Photographic Societies Review of the Year 2016 photographic competition. The name of the photograph is the "Cornish Wave"
I don't know if many people know but I am a full time photographer living in Cornwall and am part of Truro Camera Club. In 2016 I took part in their Cornish themed competition, which got me thinking about how I could best represent this stunning county.
The area is famous for its fabulous surf and so combining the various images I had captured from all over the area in the form of a wave with a surfer seemed the perfect solution.
Each image was individually processed in Adobe Lightroom and Silver Efex before being contorted into the final image in Photoshop. More of my images can be viewed at paulbnashphotography.com and can be purchased at the website shop.
If you want to see the winning images take a look at the Royal Photographic Society Webpage at https://www.rps-365.org/events/365/winners/
Last month I was lucky enough to get a page in What Digital Camera magazine discussing the Canon 5D Mark III and some of my animal photography. Following on from the new Truro tab on the website I am now developing more of a wider Cornish theme. Our local camera club has a focus on everything Cornish hence a new project has been born. I am currently working on 6 new images that will provide a view of how Cornwall could be represented. Not to everybody's taste but an opportunity to try out a few new techniques. Watch this space.Read More
